Court orders immediate arrest of alleged Internet fraudster Mompha

A Lagos special offense court has ordered the immediate arrest of Mr. Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, who was alleged to be a suspect in a 6 billion naira fraud.

The court had earlier issued a bail for Mompha, but his continued disregard for the court has made Justice Mojisola Dada issued the new warrant of arrest.

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission had on January 10 arrested the suspect, he was theretofore arraigned on January 12 2022 alongside his company, Ismalob Global investment limited. The charges were bordering on an 8-count charge of money laundering.

Mompha pleaded not guilty to the charges pressed against him, he was granted bail on January 18, and since then, fail to show up at the court.

In the many attempts failing to show up at the court proceedings, the counsel to the EFCC Barrister Oyedepo thereby called for a warrant of arrest to be issued against the suspect.

Justice Dada without fear or favor ruled in favor of the EFCC counsel and issued a warrant of arrest against the suspect.

The matter is adjourned to June 30th for further hearing.
